On the Brink of Autumn

Thank you for stopping by to view my submission for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge number 436. Being at the end of the month I decided to use some of the new Close To My Heart product that will be available for you tomorrow, September first! 

I really like the current trend of slimline cards. I love the shape and how we can take advantage of it. I see many more of these cards in my future! So says my crystal ball... 

Any season but summer is my favorite, so I'm working on fall themes already. I love this autumn tree paper that is part of our new Pumpkin Spice paper pack. And I think it's perfect for a slimline card, right?

You know I use my own perspective of the proposed sketch but I did use the wood themed background paper (trees are wood, right?) and here's where my "dots" come into play. 

They are almost too subtle.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch no. 434. 

I've chosen to work with my Close To My Heart At The Lake set for this week's sketch. My dream is to own a home or a cabin on a small quiet lake. I already have the Adirondack chairs and lots & lots of books.  All I need is the water!

Just Chillin'

We are quickly approaching the end of the Close To My Heart annual core catalog cycle and I decided to feature some retiring colors in my classes before they are gone.  Chillin' With My Gnomies features Fern & Peacock, two beautiful colors that are simply lovely together. I can't resist Gnomes so I had to show them off, too! 

I added some clear gloss paste to the sunglass lenses for this little Gnome in the middle. It added some great dimension and really darkened them up.  

This card was so fun to put together.  It's inspired by someone else but I really don't know who.  A friend of mine showed me the card I was inspired by, however, it was sent to her from someone else.  I'm sorry I can't give credit for the original inspiration.

I'll Miss You Blue Belle!

This week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is a shout-out to the Close To My Heart Color of the Year, Blue Belle.  This color was announced last September and is about to retire as of August 31st.  It's such a gorgeous color - it makes me sad to see it go! 

The pattern in the squares and rectangles was created with an embossing folder. I inked the inside of the folder with Blue Belle ink, placed my White Daisy paper inside and ran it through my embossing machine. It's a fun technique and you get completely different results on both sides of your paper. 

Here is sketch #432 that inspired my card. 

I found this sketch to be a little more challenging that some. But that could just be me having a creative block.  How about giving it a go yourself?  I'd love to see what you come up with.

Wander Shaker Card Samples

Just a quick post today to share the awesomeness of the shaker version of the Close To My Heart Wander cards from the Wander Cardmaking Kit.  How can you even resist these?  

The kit does not include supplies or directions to make the cards into shakers. I wish I had thought of this idea but it was shared with me by another CTMH Maker, Andrea Mahaffey.
